Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, one of our own heroes, was a prime example of these traits and went on to become one of the greatest Filipino boxers of all time. Elorde, who won the lineal super featherweight title in 1960 and went on to win the first WBC and WBA super featherweight belts in 1963, is renowned for his lightning-fast reactions and unshakeable spirit. With an amazing seven-year reign, he holds the record for the longest title reign in the super featherweight division.
